NIE Cheque Presentation

"Media is by no means a benign institution," said U. K. Menon, Academic Director of the Stamford College Group.

In his speech at the "NIE Newspaper Sponsorship Programme" Cheque Presentation ceremony, U. K. Menon spoke about the growing importance of the media.

"Media will continue to exert its power. So, I hope teachers who use newspapers in classrooms will also instruct students on how to read the newspaper," he said.

"We must teach students to become skeptical. We should not allow newspapers to condition the young mind."

Stamford College Group will be sponsoring a total of 7840 copies of The Star newspaper to five schools in the Klang Valley; SMK ( L ) Bukit Bintang, SMK Cheras Perdana, SMK Tun Hussein Onn 2, SMK Puteri Ampang, and SMK ( P ) Sri Aman.

According to Dato' Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Samad, Executive Chairman of Stamford College Berhad, the "NIE Newspaper Sponsorship Programme" is part of Stamford College Group’s efforts in contributing to the education well-being of the future leaders.
